Winner of the AE Williams Western Australian History Prize 2018, presented by the Royal Western Australian Historical Society every two years. Western Australian journalist Athole Stewart described his great-aunt's diary more than 70 years ago as 'a skeleton history of the Margaret awaiting someone to put flesh upon its bones'. Current research tools have allowed Gillian Lilleyman to do just that.
