This graduate-level text on Fourier transforms and linear systems offers a comprehensive but concise treatment with many line drawings and about 100 problems, all with solutions. The volume could also serve as a stimulating refresher course for professionals.
A three-part approach covers signals, systems, and transforms; selected topics, including Hilbert transforms and frequency modulation; and the essence of the book, data smoothing and spectral estimation. AUTHOR: Athanasios Papoulis (1921 2002) was a Greek-American engineer and applied mathematician. He taught for many years at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn - now the Polytechnic Institute of New York University - where he was named University Professor. His main focus was in the area of communications and signal processing. He wrote over 150 scholarly papers and several highly regarded and widely used texts for electrical engineering students.
