AV Proyectos 72 gathers the latest works of the American firm: ten proposals that explore new spatial concepts paying special attention to materiality and light treatment; all of this can be seen in Holls watercolors, which are true project tools. The competitions section is devoted to Spanish projects abroad.
Alberto Campo Baeza, Barrio + Balmaseda, Gonzlez Hinz Zabala, Espegel-Fisac with Alberich and Casqueiro, Ecosistema Urbano, and Estudio Entresitio with MGP: six Spanish proposals distinguished in international competitions organized abroad. The issue also includes six pavilions built by students based on their research on new building techniques and materials. The construction section features the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts by the Dutch studio Mecanoo: a colossal building on the island of Taiwan developed under a spectacular undulating roof. The issue closes with the spacecraft designs by the Russian architect Galina Balashova for the Soviet Space Programme, and with the photographs of the Italian Olivo Barbieri, who used the tilt shift technique to show cities as if they were scale models.
